Enhancing Resiliency and Safety for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Questioning (LGBTQ) Youth

Horizontal tabs

Over the past decade, LGBTQ young people have become increasingly visible in our families, communities and public systems. Because staff members and caregivers are unsure of how to provide respectful and supportive services to LGBTQ children and adolescents, they may unintentionally subject them to situations that are discriminatory and harmful.  This three hour, interactive training offers youth providers and care givers information and tools to provide LGBTQ youth with appropriate and informed care and includes: terminology, risks and resiliency, supporting families, and practical suggestions for working with LGBTQ youth.

Jude McNeil has over 12 years’ experience advocating for and working with lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, questioning (LGBTQ) individuals and communities. Jude received a Master's Degree in Social Work from the University of Utah in 2006. Jude moved to Spokane in 2012 and was hired by Odyssey Youth Center as the Executive Director. In 2014 Jude also accepted an Adjunct Professor position with Eastern Washington University in the Social Work department.

These trainings are offered for Caregivers and DSHS Workforce. Some are dual audience, and some are audience specific. Please review the instructions in each offering below to be sure you are selecting the appropriate course for Caregivers or Workforce.
